Yoga-Nidrā Training

Yoga-nidrā is a state of conscious deep sleep. It works at unraveling the three tensions we experience - muscular, emotional and mental. It relaxes the mind, awakens creativity, enhances memory and learning capacity and counteracts stress. It is however, not merely relaxation. It is a truly transformative practice.

Yoga-nidrā is not associated with any particular style of Yoga and is a stand-alone practice. This training is open to anyone, no Yoga experience necessary. For Yoga teachers, this a wonderful add-on to your classes or as a stand alone offering. Those registered with the Yoga Alliance will receive Continuing Education Credits (20 hours contact & 10 non-contact) for this course.

Students will receive a Yoga-nidrā manual developed by Georg and Brenda Feuerstein from Traditional Yoga Studies (TYS). Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a TYS Level 1 Yoga-nidrā Certificate and will be added to the private online TYS group for ongoing support.

Topics covered include: the subtle body, preparing the body, breath and mind for relaxation, developing your voice, script writing, developing your personal practice, planning and conducting Yoga-nidrā classes and more.

The course will be facilitated by Samantha Sambrooke, owner of the Maritime Yoga College. Samantha regularly practices Yoga-nidrā and has been sharing this technique in her classes for many years. She has studied with Brenda Feuerstein over the past 5 years, deepening her understanding of Yoga History and Philosophy as well as Yoga-nidrā.
