House Concert with Landon Fishburne and Andy Thacker

Landon Fishburne tours nationally as a guitarist playing a wide range of musical styles. He and celebrated musician/mandolinist Andy Thacker will be giving a house concert August 5th to benefit the Exploratory Center's operations and programs. They will play a variety of acoustic music ranging from bluegrass, jazz, Irish, folk, and traditional fiddle tunes. We invite you inside our beautiful (air-conditioned) space for a seated concert and light refreshments afterwards. The musicians will be available following the concert for questions and conversation.

Landon Fishburne

Originally from Charlottesville, Landon is a Nashville-based guitarist who has been has been influenced by and has studied a wide range of musical stylings including bluegrass, alt-country, jazz, classical, Gypsy jazz, folk, chicken pickin’, rhythm and blues, soul, Celtic, and slide. He has performed and toured with notable national touring acts including Ashley McBryde, Chris Young, Delta Rae, Hannah Blaylock, Lauren Mascitti, Sunny Sweeney, Three Times a Lady Trio, Jo Dee Messina, Jamie O’Neal, Ty Herndon, Marc Ford (Black Crowes), Mike Farris, DJ Logic, Brennley Brown, Janelle Arthur, and Dean Alexander. His travels have put him on stages opening for Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Sam Bush Band, Miranda Lambert, Tim O’Brien, Gary Allan, and Hank Williams JR. Performances include appearances at CMA Festival in Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry, Miranda Lambert’s “Certified Platinum Tour,” Stagecoach Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, TEDx, Country Thunder Festival, The Festie Experience, The Bluebird Cafe, on Food Network’s “Emeril Live”, and as part of the nationally broadcast radio show, Etown, recorded at Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO.

Andy Thacker

Born outside of Chicago, Andy moved to Virginia when he was 10. After playing electric guitar and Classical violin for several years, he was eventually introduced to old time music via his parents while developing a passion for Bluegrass at the age of 20. He attended Merle Fest for the first time with a friend and, upon arrival, walked directly into an inspiring performance featuring Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Béla Fleck, and Tony Rice. He picked up a mandolin soon after and hasn’t put it down since. He regularly travels with his band Love Canon playing 80’s pop tunes adapted to Bluegrass instrumentation and also spends time performing in a variety of side projects. He is an instructor of guitar and mandolin at the Front Porch here in Charlottesville.

The Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center welcomes your support! We provide children with learning experiences related to history, the environment, the skills of exploration, and the arts. During the year, we offer field trips to schools that emphasize the local and national history of the Lewis & Clark Expedition and that allow exploration of the Rivanna River, its history and natural history, and the animals and plants along its banks.
