Ma with Sam Reckard-Perry

Ma is an independent singer/songwriter based in Charlotte, NC. Pulling from an eclectic blend of indie rock, R&B/soul, and country/folk influences, his style is defined by his distinctive vocals, high-precision guitar playing, and catchy melodies. In October 2024, Ma began playing his songs at weekly open mics. He released his first solo EP, Ghost, in May 2025, followed by a full-length live album, Ma - Live at The Evening Muse, in August 2025. In the summer of 2025, Ma solicited the help of local musicians Timothy Chandler Hicks (drums) and Brett Ennis (bass) to record and perform live. Their debut full-band EP will be released in January 2026.

Sam’s been playing music in some capacity for a while. Native to Asheville, NC, his personal, mundane, and uplifting music evokes images of natural beauty. For years, he only knew how to write sad boy music. With the help of good friends and family (and therapy), he's learned how to write other kinds of music that are less of a bummer.
