- **Event Description**: Buenas Finanzas Carolinas (BFC) is offering free tax preparation assistance through its VITA Latino program on August 1, helping eligible taxpayers access trusted, no-cost support during tax season. 

BFC is an extension of Common Wealth Charlotte, which provides the same trauma-informed services specifically to the Spanish-speaking community. Through VITA Latino, trained volunteers prepare basic tax returns, help clients understand required documents, and connect taxpayers with additional resources. 

This event is designed to reduce barriers for taxpayers who may be filing for the first time, have filed for an extension, or looking for reliable assistance without the cost of a paid preparer. Spanish-speaking is not required for this event.

VITA Latino is a component of Common Wealth Charlotte’s Spanish initiative, Buenas Finanzas Carolinas. This program focuses on serving a segment of the community that has historically encountered obstacles in tax preparation due to financial and language barriers; it delivers a comprehensive range of financial literacy and capability services while being tailored through a culturally sensitive approach to more effectively serve Charlotte’s expanding and underserved Latinx community. Since inception in 2023, VITA Latino has returned a total of $3,412,423 in tax refunds.
