This is such an incredible honor and honestly still feels wild. I’ve been a huge fan of SoundScene ever since hearing about it and have been able to visit the festival the last couple years. It’s been a dream to be a part of this festival and felt a bit like a far-fetched dream, if I’m being completely honest. It’s so easy to compare or see your own areas of improvement, but I’ve always been a believer in celebrating the journey and talking about the process, because it’s so much more of an encouragement. So hopefully this can be an encouragement to you. Keep making art, keep creating! It is so important, always.April 18th I will be hosting an intimate concert at Derita Design, the studio where the figures were fabricated. This concert will be a celebration, a thank you, and a send off. This piece was made possible by the support of friends, family, and the Charlotte Arts community. Tickets will be donation based to help cover the cost of getting me and my figures to DC with a suggested donation of $20 per person. I will additionally be selling Emily Sage merchandise and select blackout poetry pieces. Doors at 6:30pm, music will begin at 7pm. The figures will be on display, so try and get there closer to 6:30 to find your seat and interact with the figures, and maybe meet some new neighbors!
