When seventeen-year-old Jennifer Amos investigates strange goings-on in El Paatiro, her life becomes entangled with a host of intriguing characters: a traveling magician who captivates the populace with amazing feats of prestidigitation, a philosophical nihilist advocating chaos and destruction, an eccentric scientist whose knowledge of the world is equaled only by his ability to misinterpret it, and a reluctant fortune-teller who makes an alarming prediction.

A compelling work of magical realism, Floating on Air tells the story of a young woman searching for love and meaning in a world where nothing is as it seems.
