The Dermal-Fascial Restoration® Certification Program is an intensive online/lab based course for manual therapistsAbout this EventThe Dermal-Fascial Restoration® Certification Program is an intensive online and lab-based course taught by Paul R. Metter, PT, DPT and Lisa Albert. It combines online presentations (2 CEU), lab demonstrations, and practical hands-on learning (14 CEU).Dermal-Fascial Restoration ® – Level 1 consists of a two-part course (for 16 hours total CEU) to gain an appreciation and understanding for the importance of systematically evaluating and treating the structural interconnections between the skin and fascia that stiffen with injury, infection, or immobility. Invisible bands of dermal-fascial stiffness/densification are exposed and restored through manual manipulation of the dermis and fascia which can be identified and treated most anywhere on the body. Objective ways of evaluation, application and assessment of treatment effectiveness will be presented. Course will be evaluated through observation of performance in lab and successful passing of 20 question quiz for online material.DFR Level 1 Workshop:DAY 17:30 – 8:00 AM Registration8:00 – 8:15 Summary PowerPoint of key DFR Online learning points in preparation for Live course8:15 to 8:30 Introduction of DFR instructors and registrants Instuctors introduce themselves (name, place of work and years/months of DFR) Registrants: name, place of work, day 1 goal.8:30 – 8:45 Hands-on Live Demo of global viscoelastic recoil test (VRT) of anteriorand posterior thigh with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning8:45 – 9:30 Participants practice global assessment (VRT) of anterior and posteriorthigh for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors9:45 – 10:00 Hands-on Live Demo of targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior thigh for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning10:00 – 10:15 Questions/discussion10:15 – 10:30 Break10:30 – 11:00 Instructors perform targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior thigh DFDs on students using optimal strain grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning.11:00 – 12:00 Participants practice targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior abdominal and posterior thigh for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors12:00-1:00 PM Lunch Break1:00 – 1:15 Hands-on Live Demo of global viscoelastic recoil test (VRT) ofanterior/posterior abdominal and TLF with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning1:15 – 1:45 Participants practice global assessment (VRT) of anterior anterior/posterior abdominal and TLF with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_ for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors1:45 – 2:15 Hands-on Live Demo of targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior abdominal/posterior and TLF with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning2:15 – 2:45 Instructors perform targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior/posterior abdominal and TLF DFDs on students using optimal strain grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning.2:45 – 3:00 Questions/discussion3:00 – 3:15 Break3:15 – 4:15 Participants practice targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior/posterior abdominal and TLF for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors demo’s HRUS and grid stamp with multidirectional DFD’s.4:15 – 5:00 DiscussionDAY 28:00 – 8:15 Summary of day 1 and opportunity for questions with DFR instructors and registrants8:15 – 8:30 Hands-on Live Demo of global viscoelastic recoil test (VRT) of anteriorand posterior shoulder with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and clientpositioning8:30 – 9:15 Participants practice global assessment VRT of anterior and posteriorshoulder for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and clientpositioning_Instructors9:15 – 10:00 Hands-on Live Demo of targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior shoulder for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning10:00 – 10:15 Questions/discussion10:15 – 10:30 Break10:30 – 11:00 Instructors perform targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior shoulder DFDs on students using optimal strain grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning.11:00 – 12:00 Participants practice targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior shoulder for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors12:00 – 1:00 PM Lunch Break1:00 – 1:15 Hands-on Live Demo of global viscoelastic recoil test (VRT) of anterior and posterior neck with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning1:15 – 2:45 Participants practice global assessment (VRT) of anterior and posterior neck for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors2:45 – 3:00 Hands-on Live Demo of targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior neck for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning3:00 – 3:15 Instructors perform targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior neck DFDs on students using optimal strain grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning.3:15 – 3:30 Break3:30 – 4:30 Participants practice targeted DFR unidirectional treatment of anterior and posterior neck for DFDs with optimal grip, therapist body mechanics, and client positioning_Instructors4:30 – HRUS and grid stamp with multidirectional DFD’s.4:45 – 5:00 Wrap up with satisfaction survey and DFR Certificates

"description": "Dr. Paul Mettler is a doctor of Physical Therapy who has been practicing for 40 years. Early on, he became frustrated and discouraged by patients’ lack of functional improvement and long-term results using only the standard myofascial, physical or manipulation therapies for which he had been trained. In 1991, Dr. Mettler discovered a way to rapidly identify and undo soft tissue damage using precise and focused manual physical therapy to restore scar/densified tissue that connects injured tissue. He originally called it the Mettler Release Technique® or MRT®.In 2018, Dr. Mettler renamed the technique Dermal-Fascial Restoration® or DFR® as technology had advanced to permit colored imaging and quantification of tissue density to guide restoration of the skin and fascia. DFR has been proven to reduce skin and fascial stiffness through High Frequency Shear Wave Elastography imaging. DFR is a drug-free, harm-free, non-invasive and cost-effective therapy for chronic pain. It has been successfully used to treat over 20,000 patients over the past 25 years."
