On June 25, 2026, the global vitiligo community will gather in Chandigarh, India, for the 16th annual World Vitiligo Day, under the honorary presidency of Prof. Davinder Parsad. 

For the first time, WVD will be held alongside a regional meeting of the International Society of Dermatology (ISD), bringing together global advocacy and international dermatological expertise in one landmark event.

Following the tech-powered momentum of WVD-2025 in Toronto, this year’s event returns to its spiritual roots — and flips the narrative. 

Chandigarh is no ordinary host city. Built atop ancient sacred ground, it is India’s first planned city, known for its modernist architecture, green boulevards, and Le Corbusier’s UNESCO-listed Capitol Complex. Its spirit of openness and transformation is captured in the Open Hand Monument — a symbol of unity and renewal that mirrors the WVD mission.

Even the city’s name carries power: Chandigarh means “fortress of Chandi,” referencing the fierce goddess Chandi, a form of divine feminine energy. Nearby temples like Mata Mansa Devi draw pilgrims who tie sacred threads with hopes their wishes will come true. Transformation — both spiritual and physical — is woven into the landscape.

Chandigarh also holds special meaning in WVD’s history. In 2014, Prof. Parsad led a record-breaking event here, mobilizing over 800 physicians to provide free consultations to 225 patients in a single day. It became a global benchmark for vitiligo advocacy.

This year, under the theme “From Stigma to Strength” and the rallying cry “Many Shades, One Voice,” WVD-2026 aims to reach every person affected by vitiligo — nearly 100 million worldwide — and unite patients, families, clinicians, and advocates in a bold new chapter.
