World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) 2018: Empowering the Commitment to World Heritage. The WHV 2018 campaign provides empowering and enriching opportunities to young people and enables them to go beyond borders in some of the most outstanding places in the world. Volunteers will work together to preserve natural and cultural sites, as well as to raise awareness among local communities about their heritage.
The World Heritage Volunteers Initiative is led by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) in collaboration with the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS), the European Heritage Volunteers (as a branch of Open Houses) and Better World.
For its 11th year, 53 action camp projects will be implemented at 52 World Heritage properties and sites inscribed on the Tentative Lists, from June to December 2018, by 46 organizations in 29 countries.
Elixir Foundation is an organisation founded by the presidential awardees, Government of India. The Idea was cultivated in order to give something back to the nation; organisation is an integral part of and also for the overall upliftment of our brothers and sisters.
Among the 46 Organisations selected, Elixir Foundation is the one hosting the WHV at Rani Ki Vav (The Queen's Step Well) at Patan, Gujarat, India from June 23, 2018 to July 02, 2018 inviting participation of youth globally to work on heritage conservation and promotion in India with Archaeological Survey of India & Government of Gujarat.
Champaner - Pavagadh is a concentration of largely unexcavated archaeological, historic and living cultural heritage properties cradled in an impressive landscape, the park includes prehistoric (chalcolithic) sites, a hill fortress of an early Hindu capital, and remains of the 16th-century capital of the state of Gujarat. It also includes fortifications, palaces, religious buildings, residential precincts, agricultural structures and water installations, dating from the 8th to 14th centuries.
Painting Contest is an Integral Part of the UNESCO's WHV 2018 - Let's Heritage to promote Heritage through creative talent in the form of visual arts.
All participants will be honored with certificates and we have 3 categories of Awards namely - Best Artist Award, Star Artist Award and Upcoming Artist Award.
Eligibility- Open for all age groups and nationalities
Size- 24"x18" (width x height)
Base- Paper, Canvas, Toned Paper, Fabric
Medium- All mediums are allowed including colour or black and white pencil, charcoal, acrylic paint, oil paint, water colour, poster colour.
Time Limit- Maximum time slot will be given is 7 hours to complete the artwork including 1 hour lunch break. No one can continue the artwork during the lunch time slot.
View- Choosing the perfect view is up to the artist only, no such limit for the frame.
* Markings will be based on how far the theme is clear to the viewer
* It is upon the artist, how far s/he can make the heritage of Champaner - Pavagadh more lively.
* Making art in lunch time will cause the decrements in marking.
* Artist can choose any type of perspective (one point to 3 point) for the artwork
* It is not restricted that painting should be in perspective, one can make the artwork freehand as well.
