In the words of composer Jason Robert Brown, the show is about “one moment — hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” The show brings together stories from people who do not always get the spotlight, including immigrants, mothers, dreamers, workers, and ordinary people carrying extraordinary moments. With soaring music and deeply human storytelling, this production aligns beautifully with Twin City Theatre Company’s mission to uplift underrepresented voices and create meaningful theatre. Casting breakdown: Songs for a New World features four singer-actors and a non-singing dance ensemble. No roles have been precast. Twin City Theatre Company encourages performers of all backgrounds to audition.
