- **Event Description**: Many ewes and does are breeding or pregnant during the short days of fall and early winter. Birthing and lactation are right around the corner as late winter and early spring approach. During this time the nutrient requirements of these animals are elevated compared to other months. And with the shorter day length and colder temperatures the pastures are less productive or even dormant. This necessitates the use of supplemental feeding to meet the needs of the livestock.

In his class we will go through the steps for feeding a balanced ration to sheep and goats. These include knowing their nutrient requirements, the nutrient content of the different feeds available, and formulating a diet that meets the nutrient requirements of the animal by combining different feeds. The goal is to keep the animals healthy and productive and give you healthy lambs and kids, and then rebreed in a timely manner.   

In-person consultations and ranch visits in Jackson and Josephine counties are available for class participants the following day. 

Cost: $5 per ranch family (up to 6 people)
