This space is intended for birthworkers of all disciplines: doulas, midwives, lactaction counselors/consultants, behavioral health practitioners, nurses, physicians, etc. Anyone providing care along the perinatal spectrum of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and loss (intended or otherwise) will find something of value with this practice.Life force energy is the energy that powers all life here on Earth. Us humans, the plants and animals; all that we see and even all that we can’t see. As everything on Earth breathes (plants breathe too!), we are taking in and moving that life force energy. It is an energy that most of us can’t see or notice, but it is what allows us to stay alive. Like electricity keeping lights on. This energy has always been here as long as Earth has been here, and it will still be here after us. It is everywhere all around us and out in the stars too. It has many names across the world, including: aṣẹ (West Africa), chi/qi (China), ki (Japan), mana (Oceania), and prana (India). Many of these names also mean “air” or “breath.”Working with life force energy can help us in many ways. Our thoughts, feelings, and everything that happens in our body is a form of energy. So when we work with energy, we are able to shift our thoughts, feelings, and body. Some changes are fast, others take more time— especially the body. Even so, using energy makes change faster and easier. It is equal to the level of education you would receive in Reiki level 1 or other similar energy healing training. What it will do is prepare you to work with life force energy primarily as a support tool for yourself as a birthworker. Care workers need care too! Though, you will also learn how to channel it for improved wellbeing for friends/family and how you can incorporate this in your current work with clients/patients. In addition to a general overview for working with others, we will discuss specific ways you can apply this modality in your perinatal care practice.I believe that the knowledge shared in this training is our birthright to understand and work with, and that it should be available to everyone. I also understand that there is an energy exchange to be honored and that this work currently funds my material existence.
