Then he went to the Soviet Union. Unwilling to swallow the official propaganda, he hopped a train to the Ukraine to see for himself the persistent rumors of famine were true. When he reported people dying of starvation, Malcom Muggeridge was ostracized. His own family said: if the New York Times said the famine was a lie, it couldn't be true.In the late-Sixties, Muggeridge interviewed Mother Teresa, catapulting her to a greater worldwide fame for her work with the poor in Calcutta and leading to his own conversion to faith.
