"When Malcom Muggeridge Met Mother Theresa": A Staged Reading of a Play by a Living Catholic Artist
Join Maggie Gallagher and your fellow Catholic artists and art-lovers September 6 at St. Thomas More parish in Centennial, CO to get your own creative juices going: meet Catholic creatives, hear a fine play by a living Catholic artist. Join in the discussion, the food, the fun, the fellowship.
Judith Sears directs a staged reading of excerpts from the Charles Gallagher's play "When Malcolm Muggeridge Met Mother Theresa."
Charles Gallagher, the playwright, specializes in stories of heroic Catholics who defy pressures to stand for the truth and the faith.
Malcom Muggeridge was a famous journalist who like most of his time, was very pro-Soviet. Then he went to the Soviet Union. Unwilling to swallow the official propaganda, he hopped a train to the Ukraine to see for himself the persistent rumors of famine were true. When he reported people dying of starvation, Malcom Muggeridge was ostracized. His own family said: if the New York Times said the famine was a lie, it couldn't be true.
In the late-Sixties, Muggeridge interviewed Mother Teresa, catapulting her to a greater worldwide fame for her work with the poor in Calcutta and leading to his own conversion to faith.
