Pollinator Plants in the Garden - Presented by OSU Extension Master Gardener™

Expands the term “pollinators’’ beyond bees to include butterflies, moths, beetles, birds, among others; Covers why they matter and includes suggestions for developing pollinator habitat based upon flower traits and bloom time diversity; Gives tips for selecting among native and non-native plants. Topics include questions to consider asking while shopping at plant sales and nurseries, growing and caring for your plants, and general considerations when managing a pollinator garden.

Presented by Jack Shorr. After retiring in 2004 from 25 years of teaching, much of it with Portland Public Schools, Jack became a Master Gardener in 2006, and a Master Naturalist in 2012. Jack has volunteered with West Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District pollinator monitoring efforts, the Backyard Habitat Certification Program, and the Pacific Northwest Bumble Bee Atlas.
