Welcome spring with the second annual Cedar Falls EarthFest at Gateway Park! 🌸 Enjoy lunch, activities, and get eco information from our Public Works team and local conservation partners during this free community celebration.
The event will include a rain barrel workshop, seed planting station, birdhouse building workshops, and activities for kids from the Hearst Center for the Arts and the Cedar Falls Public Library. Hot dogs and chips will be provided by Cedar Falls Hy-Vee. The City will be giving away free prairie seed packets and tree saplings to attendees, and the Cedar Falls Public Library Youth Department will host a Storytime at 11:30 a.m.
Local musician Scott Hudson will be providing the live soundtrack for the event and guests can visit educational booths and enjoy displays and activities from Cedar Falls Public Works, UNI Center for Energy and Environmental Education (Good Neighbor Iowa and A Garden in Every Lot), Black Hawk County, Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management, Black Hawk Soil and Water Conservation District, Cedar Falls Utilities, Steven Eilers- Horticulture and Natural Resource Coordinator at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Black Hawk County, Cedar Valley Trails Partnership, and UNI Tallgrass Prairie Center. Topics will include composting, gardening, pollinator and tree plantings, recycling, and more.
