SNOOPY!!! THE MUSICAL – CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
SNOOPY (Tenor C3-A4)
Role: The star of the show; Charlie Brown’s imaginative, dramatic, larger-than-life beagle.
Personality: Confident, flamboyant, witty, sarcastic, theatrical.
Vocal: Strong comedic singer; often carries numbers.
Notes: Requires charisma, physical comedy, and big stage presence.
CHARLIE BROWN (Baritone Bb2 – F4)
Role: Lovable, insecure, determined blockhead we all know.
Personality: Earnest, anxious, sincere, endlessly hopeful.
Vocal: Light character voice; warm, honest delivery.
Notes: Must contrast Snoopy’s confidence with subtle, grounded humor.
LINUS VAN PELT (Tenor C3-A4)
Role: Philosophical best friend with a security blanket.
Personality: Wise beyond his years, gentle, intellectual, sentimental.
Vocal: Sweet, approachable; strong comedic timing.
Notes: Blanket choreography often included.
LUCY VAN PELT (Mezzo-Soprano C4-D5)
Role: Bossy, loud, opinionated leader of the pack.
Personality: Dramatic, blunt, ambitious, often exasperated.
Vocal: Belt or strong mix; fiery and comedic.
Notes: Great for a fearless, commanding performer.
SALLY Brown (Soprano C4-F5)
Role: Charlie Brown’s quirky, imaginative little sister.
Personality: Dramatic, cute, literal-minded, easily frustrated.
Vocal: Bright, youthful, comedic.
Notes: Known for her fun solo “Hurry Up, Face.”
PEPPERMINT PATTY (Mezzo-Soprano A3-C5)
Role: Sporty, confident tomboy who often misunderstands situations.
Personality: Straightforward, relaxed, occasionally clueless.
Vocal: Warm mezzo; friendly and open.
Notes: Usually paired with Marcie for comedic duo moments.
Woodstock (No Speaking/Singing)
Role: Snoopy’s tiny, loyal bird companion; a comedic, physical-theatre role.
Personality: Energetic, expressive, sweet, and slightly chaotic. Conveys emotion through movement, chirps, and attitude rather than spoken dialogue.
Vocal: Non-singing
Notes: Great for a highly expressive performer with strong mime/physical comedy skills. Often included in dance breaks, transitions, or added comedic beats. Flexible casting—can suit any age, vocal type, or gender.
ENSEMBLE: Multiple roles for a large number of ensemble/chorus members of all ages. MAIN ROLES will be cast by those 14 and up.
