Automotive Mechanics 101

In an age where our work, socialization, and activism often depend on our vehicles, the ability to keep our vehicles on the road is critical. Mechanics are becoming more expensive and difficult to get into, and being able to take care of basics ourselves gives us more freedom from the system.

Learning how to figure out what those spots your car is leaving in the driveway, why it won’t start, and what that squeak is can keep you on the road and save you hundreds of dollars. Also, understanding the electronic diagnosis provided by mechanics and knowing where to find service data online can empower you when you do need to engage a mechanic. Knowledge is power!

In this course, folks traditionally excluded from mechanical knowledge will have an opportunity to gain an understanding of the major systems that keep your vehicle on the road and safe to drive. This is an inclusive workshop for gender identities and expressions typically excluded from trades skills. Centering queers, femmes, and thems. All are welcome.
