About this Event

Hello and Happy fresh start to you all for 2026. Easing into it I hope? Thank you for your support in helping Ambient to sprout in 2025, we're back with Volume 3 to get you warmed up for your best year yet ;)
What to expect at the showcase?

Tiny Desk, Open Mic, Busking Night, call it what you will, we are bringing home-grown musical magic to one stage, upstairs at Cavan’s cosy new wine bar, 7 Oaks Café. A relaxed evening of stripped back original sounds, from passionate, up and coming musicians who just want to play music, to (your) keen and listening ears. You may hear something new, something borrowed, perhaps even something blue. So leave your shovel at the door and settle in for an evening of eclectic sounds, songs and stories, and maybe even a nibble and tipple (or two).

VOL.3 Line-up includes:

Another Lost Boy is the stage name of Cavan based singer songwriter Dave Bruce. Dave has been playing and performing since the mid 80’s where he started out in the London Punk scene playing with the band Contention and the Brighton based anarcho folk band First of May. Dave busked his way around Europe in the early and mid 90’s before settling in Ireland and raising a family. His songs evoke a love of nature and the mystical wonder of it all. Equality and social justice lie just below the surface in his exploration of our relationships to life, death and ever present world of the green. Songs of hope, songs of light, songs of a better future. Check out his instagram @anotherlostboymusic

Dillon Corcoran is a singer and songwriter from Dublin. His music is a mix of folk and pop, taking influences from a range of artists, from Sleeping at Last to Peter Seeger. When he is not writing music, Dillon treads the boards in many a theatre production, taking part in amateur musical productions and pantomimes, which inform a lot of the storytelling elements he displays in his songwriting and solo performances. Dillon holds a bachelor’s a degree in Music from Maynooth University. Check out his instagram @dilloncorcoranmusic

Luke Cahill is making his stage debut at Ambient. Luke struggles with anxiety, and as a result has not yet performed outside of his own space. As many of us know, stage performance is a daunting experience for anyone. However, having heard about the first showcase from his sister, Luke was inspired to take the plunge and reach out to play his very first set, ever! Inspired by artists like Radio head, Raleighy Ritchie, the Beetles and Jamiroquai, Luke has been writing his own guitar arrangements, and what's more, has a gripping and delicate voice and lyrics to share his stories. Playing guitar is a big part of Luke's life, a method for helping him to cope with his anxiety, and has become an important part of his identity. We commend and welcome Luke on his courageous strike to play live, for the first time here at Ambient Music Showcase.

Guest Performer a short set of something international will grace our ears and certainly grab our attention.

Ambient's Roots

Ambient Music Showcase is an intimate event set-up and managed, voluntarily, by a singer-songwriter, Gráinne Conaty. This event was born from a pocket of funding awarded by Cavan Arts Office in 2025, which is helping to sew the seeds of longevity, to get it up and running. The event runs under social media handle, @the_musicsociety

Ambient Aims:

  1. To offer music lovers an intimate venue to settle in, relax and tune in to some of Ireland's richest voices and sounds.
  2. To offer up and coming musicians a space on stage, to express their musical workings with an attentive audience.

Having an event that represents Cavan in original music on an ongoing basis in our county, says a lot about the importance of music to the people of Cavan. This also conveys a message to the rest of the country about the richness of musical talents brewing in the Breffni and outer midlands. Previous endevours such as Origins, The Café Sessions, ongoing large gigs in Townhall Arts Center Cavan, and ongoing offerings such as Cavan Arts Festival, JoshiFest, SingForMe and more, all prove just how important music is to our community.

I, Gráinne Conaty, vow to keep Ambient Music Showcase running as often as I can, and for as long as I can, with your continued, golden support. Bring the vibes, and I'll look after the rest. Thank you.

Creative expression through music helps us to voice our view of the world through melody, and somehow make sense of it all with our audience.
