El Da Sensei stepped onto the hip-hop scene as one half of the Newark, NJ duo the Artifacts.
After El and his partner Tame-One sent a rough demo to Bobbito the Barber at WKCR in New
York, the group was signed to Big Beat/Atlantic Records. They released their debut album,
Between a Rock & a Hard Place in 1994 with "Wrong Side of the Tracks" as the lead single and
video. The Artifacts had developed a fan base of hardcore hip-hoppers and sparked a new sub-
culture in hip-hop called "backpackers". In 1996, the group followed up their debut with their
sophomore album, "That's Them", spawning the underground hits "The Art of Facts" and "The
Ultimate".
Shortly after the release of the second album, El and Tame decided on an amicable break up.
After the split, El Da Sensei went on his own amicable break up. After the split, El went on his
own traveling around the world and dropped the singles "Frontline" and "Got That". In the fall of
2002, El dropped his debut solo album, Relax, Relate, Release through Seven Heads
Entertainment. The album featured guest appearances from Sadat X of Brand Nubian, J-Live,
Organized Konfusion, Mike Zoot and F.T., Asheru and others. In 2006, El released his second
solo album, The Unusual to much acclaim through Fat Beats Records. The album included the
Illmind produced single and video "Crowd Pleasa" which was very well received.
In 2007, El teamed with the Polish production duo known as The Returners for the release of
GLobal Takeover: The Beginning, which was released through the Polish lable Asfalt Records.
The album however was digitally distributed through the Brooklyn-indie lable Coalmine Records.
Nearly one year later, El found a new home with Coalmine, where he went onto release The
Money EP and GLobal Takeover 2: Nu World (GT2), respectively. The 2010 release of GT2 once
again united El with the The Returners for a sequel that showcases the growth and fusion of
artist, producer & DJ. The album enlists an impressive roster of features that include Treach of
Naughty By Nature, Sean Price, Rakaa Iriscience of Dilated Peoples, Akrobatik, Bekay, John
Robinson, Reks & Tiye Phoenix. The Nu World Remix EP was released in 2011, which included a
Khrysis produced remix of "Everyday in the Street" that featured Rah Digga and Tame-One.
At current, El is working on a collabo album with Sadat X of Brand Nubian and a variety of other solo projects.
Extince, De Exter-O-Naldus, Prince Extince of gewoon Peter Kops wordt gezien als de Vader van
de Nederlandse Hip-Hop en scoorde in 1995 de allereerste Nederlandstalige Hip-Hop hit
‘Spraakwater’. Met zijn (Brabantse) woordspelingen en ‘Zachte G’ wist hij heel Nederland en
België te veroveren. Zijn muziek zit vol funk invloeden en in zijn teksten laat hij horen wat er
allemaal wel niet mogelijk is met de Nederlandse taal

De eerste Nederlandstalige Hip-Hop plaat die de top tien van de hitlijsten bereikt! Met de komst
van deze single stapt de Nederlandstalige Hip-Hop eindelijk uit de kinderschoenen. Extince tilt
het genre naar een hoger niveau door niet langer Amerikaanse Hip-Hop domweg te vertalen of
klakkeloos te imiteren wat rappers in de Verenigde Staten doen. De geboorte van de typisch
Nederlandse Hip-Hop is een feit, evenals de geboorte van het label Top-Notch
‘’Hip-Hop is een vak en Extince is de vakman’’ (uit: Spraakwater)
Zijn debuutalbum uit 1998, getiteld ‘Binnenlandse Funk’, ontvangt lovende kritieken uit alle
hoeken van de samenleving en de singles ‘Spraakwater’, ‘Viervoeters’, ‘Kaal Of Kammen’ en
‘Zoete Inval’ belanden stuk voor stuk in de hitlijsten. Het album gaat de geschiedenis in als een
ware mijlpaal en game-changer binnen de Nederlandse muziekindustrie en zijn ster is rijzende
als geen andere Nederlandse artiest
Hoewel er van de daarna volgende albums geen Top-40 noteringen meer komen weet Extince
zijn publiek steeds te boeien en de competitie een stap voor te blijven. Na iedere albumrelease
(m.u.v. zijn afscheidsalbum van Top-Notch uit 2019, dat net vóór de lock-down verscheen) volgt
een uitgebreide tour inclusief merchandise hypes en zeer veel aandacht vanuit de Nederlandse
media. Ook zonder de lijsten rappen zijn fans hits als ‘Grootheidswaan’, ‘Regelneef’, ‘20 Jr.’,
‘Repper-De-Klep’ en ‘Don't Know Dutch’ woord voor woord mee en zijn de bijbehorende videoclips the talk of the town
Het is ook niet voor niets dat hij in 2018 als allereerste Nederlandstalige rapper ooit een Edison
Oeuvre Award in ontvangst mocht nemen in de categorie Hip-Hop NL. Een hoge onderscheiding
die in welk muziekgenre dan ook zelden aan artiesten wordt toegekend
In samenwerking met The Partysquad, Jacqueline Govaert en Big Boi Caprice voor de opening
van de TMF Awards 2006 met het nummer ‘Ben Je down’ komt Extince op 9 december van dat
jaar wel nog de hitlijsten binnen, op nummer 4 in de Single Top 100
Samenwerkingen worden overigens aangegaan met alle denkbare grootheden uit de
Nederlandse Hip-Hop scene zoals: All Star Fresh (King Bee), Yukkie B., Osdorp Posse, Postmen,
Skate The Great, Brainpower, Rotjoch, Shirma Rouse, Keizer, Ross & Iba, THC, Fresku, Gers
Pardoel, Winne, Kempi, Lange Frans, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig en Opgezwolle
Met zijn Engelstalige jaren meegerekend (compleet met optredens in Duitsland, London en New
York) is hij de rapper met de langst aanhoudende cariere van allemaal
Tegenwoordig toert Extince samen met 4-voudig Nederlands DJ – Kampioen DJ DNS door de
Benelux en brengt hij de bekende hits - oud en nieuw door elkaar - ten gehore. Kom dat zien!
