- **Event Description**: Our free family-friendly events for ‘Christmas at Turlough Park’ continue this Sunday, 14 December, from 1pm to 5pm. From storytelling and cosy craft workshops to a Christmas market and a live crib, there is something for all ages to enjoy. 

Christmas market and live crib
Be sure to visit the Christmas market in the Courtyard of Turlough Park House from 1pm to 5pm. The market will feature a range of beautiful crafts from local and regional makers and artists, including candles, calligraphy, art, cards, textiles and more. There will also be a live crib display on both afternoons. The live crib, with the team from Kiltimagh Pet Farm, features some of the farm animals we associate with the nativity and other Christmas traditions and stories.
 
Festive storytelling
Feel the magic of Christmas come alive with storyteller Fiona Dowling. There are three interactive and creative storytelling sessions taking place 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Sunday, 7 and 14 December. The wonderful atmosphere of the Museum provides a unique backdrop for these popular Christmas tales, where history, culture, and storytelling come together. Suitable for families with children aged five years plus. No booking required. Places will be allocated on a first-come basis if required during busier periods.
 
A very bear-y Christmas
Be sure to visit our impressive bear specimen which has just gone on display as part of the ongoing exhibition, The Murmur of Bees. Bears have long been associated with bees and honey and one of the ancient Irish names for a bear is milchobur (honey-lover). The female bear from Alaska has pale brown fur and is mounted standing on her hind legs, with long claws outstretched towards the visitor. Brown bears once roamed throughout Ireland but became extinct here thousands of years ago. Find out more on Level A of the exhibition galleries at Turlough Park.
