Class Experience
**Class Description: Beginner Crochet (Ages 9 and Up)**
Discover the joy of crochet in this beginner-friendly class designed for kids and adult ages 9 and up! Whether you’re completely new to crochet or looking to build on the basics, this class is the perfect place to start.
In this course, students will learn how to select yarn and tools, master foundational stitches like the chain, single crochet, and double crochet, learn to count stitches, and follow simple patterns to create fun, hands-on projects. Learning the basic skills will allow students to begin crafting cute accessories to creating small gifts.
We focus on nurturing creativity and developing patience, as well as providing plenty of personalized guidance. By the end of the class, students will have gained the skills needed to continue their crochet journey independently or move on to our next class. All materials are included, so just bring your excitement and get ready to learn something new!
* This class can be taken multiple times to learn and progress basic skills in crochet.
What Crochet Skills Will They Learn?
Basic Skills:
-Hooks and yarn size
-slip knot & chaining
-single crochet
-counting chains, rows, and stitches
-finishing off and weaving in ends
Continued Skills After Basic (based on student progression during classes):-
- double crochet
- half double crochet
-treble crochet
-increase/decreasing
-beginning to read patterns
Additional Skills That Can Be Learned during this class:
-Magic Ring and crochet in the round for plushies/stuffed animals/amigurumi (ex: woobles kits or other)
- advanced stitches (ex: shell stitch, puff stitch, bobble stitch, etc)
Class Requirements
Must be 9 years or older. Exceptions can be made if approved by the instructor.
