HANDGUN 101:Beginner Pistol Shooting Course
Looking to become more confident and proficient with your handgun? Join us for a comprehensive, beginner-friendly course designed specifically for current pistol permit holders who want to improve their skills, safety knowledge, and maintenance habits.

Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Valley Outdoors, 16 S Main St, Cassadaga, NY 14718
Cost: $150 per person (Payable at sign-up)
Class Size: Limited to 10 students to ensure ample one-on-one attention!
What You Will Learn
Firearms Safety & Range Rules: Core safety principles for handling and range time.
Familiarization & Function: Understanding different pistols and revolvers. (Bring your own gun, and we'll teach you its specific mechanics!)
Shooting Fundamentals: Proper grip, stance, and sight alignment. We use a step-by-step approach: starting with laser training, moving to realistic training pistols, and finishing with live-fire on the range.
Practical Skills: Loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintenance.
Legal & Storage Requirements: Essential overview of NY State and Federal firearms laws and safe storage practices.
Bonus: All participants will receive their NRA Certificate upon completion!
What to Bring
Firearm: Students are encouraged to bring their own. If you don't have one, free loaner pistols are available at the range.
Ammunition: Due to NYS laws, you must bring your own ammunition. Ammo is usually available for purchase at Valley Outdoors if needed.
Safety Gear: Proper eye and ear protection is required. Bring your own, or purchase equipment at the shop.
Please Note: This course does not fulfill the pistol course requirement to get a NY state pistol permit. Valley Outdoors offers a separate course for that requirement.
