- **Event Description**: Join us at the Tate Geological Museum on Wednesday, April 1st at 6:00pm as Dr. Kent Sundell presents "Cenozoic Volcanism of Northwest Wyoming." Changing Plate Tectonic interactions along the western United States led to a great variety of Volcanoes within Wyoming during the Cenozoic.  From gigantic 20,000' tall andesitic stratovolcanoes with giant lava lakes filling the valleys in between, to the fluid orange glowing flood basalt lavas punctuated by the most massive explosive rhyolitic ash eruptions of all time, we've had it all in Wyoming during the past 65 million years.
