"As a songwriter, his songs have been recorded by country music legend Doug Stone, Rural Rhythm recording artist Mason Douglas, Daniel Dennis of Prime Cut Studio, Bryan Edwards of duo Indigo Summer, and various other artists. 

Shelby Merchant’s songs have been featured in Country Weekly Magazine, NPR, Large Market Radio Stations of the Year WQDR (Raleigh, NC) , WSIX and WKDF (Nashville, TN) and also has had two songs reach #1 on a Nashville Independent radio chart. While he’s been the lead performer on nights at the Bluebird Cafe (Nashville, TN), Six String Cafe and at the Pour House (Raleigh, NC). Shelby has also opened for the Nashville Symphony on inaugural night at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, as well as the NC Symphony at the Amphitheatre at Regency Park.
