The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family inside the home, and provides information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense. NRA Certificate of Completion awarded.During this course, students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, defensive pistol ammunition types, safe storage of firearms in the home, strategies for home safety and home defense preparation, responding to violent confrontations and home invasion prevention techniques.WHAT TO BRINGYou should bring your primary defensive handgun (no shotguns or rifles). Please limit handgun & ammunition choices between .22, 9mm, .40, .38spl or.357 caliber. If you do not have your own firearm, one will be provided, along with ammo. All firearms must be inspected by the Instructor prior to use on the range and the Instructor reserves the right to reject any firearm if it appeals unsafe for use.There are three major components to the course. A classroom component, a written examination, and a live-fire hand-gun range component.
