Don David Wiley has been walking two of those two traditions which are based in Mexico: the Wixarika (known to most outsiders as the Huichol) of the western Sierra Madre mountains and the Nahua from the central highlights. For over two decaddes he has been recognized as an elder in both of those ancestrally-related shamanic traditions. In this in-person gathering, he brings that depth to the challenge of living well in these tmultuous times. With time for specific questions from the audience.Cost: By Donation!(Suggested: $20 and up.)Background on :In 1996, the Spirit of Fire — also known as Grandfather Fire or Grandfather for short— first appeared before David as an apparition in the garden of a meditation retreat center near Mexico City. Grandfather Fire asked David to be his conduit, so that people everywhere could discover their innate connection to spirit and have an experiential relationship with nature and the Divine. It was an encounter that profoundly altered his understanding of what is possible and how to live. (See a video of don David describing his relationship with Grandfather Fire below.)Grandfather Fire sent David to find two indigenous elders: don Lupe Ríos Gonzales of the Wixárika (Huichol) tradition of Mexico's Sierra Madres, and don Lucio Campos Elizalde of the Nahua tradition of the central highlands. With them, he began his formal shamanic apprenticeship in these two ancestrally-related paths. Among the Wixárika, he is recognized as an axihuatakame or a god-speaker–a traditional conduit who enters a deep trance state so that Grandfather Fire can speak directly through him.In the Wixárika tradition, he was initiated as a mara'akame — healer, counselor, and ceremonial leader. Following the Nahua path, he was initiated as a granicero — weather worker, ceremonial leader, and healer. In 2008, he received initiation as a Huichol tsaurirrakame (or elder shaman). On the Nahua path, he was recognized as a Caporal Mayor — teacher and tradition leader — and inherited Don Lucio's altar and . As a recognized elder in both traditions, he carries the title of respect: don David. Also beginning in 1996, Grandfather Fire began speaking directly through don David in special ceremonial gatherings that came to be known as . This offering has touched thousands of people across the globe for nearly three decades. A compilation of Grandfather's wisdom from these events was published in the book in 2010. A second book is in the final editing process.Don David is a founder of international organization as well as a founding Board member of the — a sacred place for healing and transformation in the Catskill Mountains of New York. He was also the founder and Chairman of the Sacred Fire Foundation–a charitable organization supporting the preservation of indigenous wisdom traditions around the world.
