Lone Star Lakes in Suffolk(40 min. drive from Newtown Rd. VB) is over 1,000 acres & contains 11 lakes.
Starting at the N end at the Horseback Trail. 5 mile loop.
If interested in more, we’ll drive very short distance to S end at the Archery Range & hit numerous trails down there for another 5 bringing us to roughly 10 miles total.
What you carry in, you carry out.
Snack, water, proper attire, sunscreen & bug spray always recommended.
20min/mile pace is what we average.
All trails considered relatively flat & easy.
Dogs must be leashed if bringing.
Free parking.
I think there’s a porta potty there, but that might have just been during construction on last visit? Not sure about any legit bathrooms?
Weather cancellation would be night before since this is early hike.
401 Kings Highway
Suffolk, VA 23432
Head in & down to Lone Star Lakes Trail Rd. Only road in there. Turn right & head towards Horseback Trail at N end. You’ll pass numerous lakes. I’ll be parked on the left I believe right when pavement ends & gravel begins. Black Cadillac with trunk open is me. Gravel road does continue further, but we’ll start our hike from here.
Gonna be a brisk, but beautiful morning hopefully.
