Hadestown is a folk musical that interweaves the ancient Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as Hades and Persephone, following an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back. Written by Anaïs Mitchell in 2006, and still playing on Broadway, it uses a unique jazz-inflected folk score to explore themes of love, hope, nature versus industry, doubt versus faith, and the power of music.
