Black History Month Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon

Millions of people use the site Wikipedia as their first source of information on any given topic each and every day. These crowd sourced "encyclopedia" entries range from one or two sentences to pages and pages of detailed material.

As a result of systemic racism, implicit cultural bias, and a smaller number of available resources, African Americans and their contributions are not equally represented on this popular site.

Join us in the North Carolina Room as we make an attempt to contribute to, and correct the record when it comes to those people of color who have made a significant impact on our local history. We'll help provide you with tools, guidance, and of course, research material, to create and edit entries for important African American figures from our area.
