- **Event Description**: Beauty and the Beast, a charming, original, ballet, will be danced by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center,  Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. and Sunday April 26 at 2 pm. at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie.  Belle, (Beauty), the daughter of a merchant who has lost his fortune, takes her father’s place as hostage in the dreaded palace of the beast.  There, she learns that beauty is only skin deep and that the terrible beast will die without her love. The character of Belle is danced by Merielle Hooker, a freshman at Shady Side Academy who resides in Carnegie. Featured performers include Lana Platt a sophomore at Chartiers Valley High School portraying the Diamond Fairy and Ana Lewis, also a sophomore at Chartiers Valley High School dancing the role of the mysterious Traveler who tells the tale of the Beast. The ballet travels through the mysterious castle of the Beast as pictures come to life in splendid rooms.  Storybook characters  jump from their picture frames and the  dances of jewels and the royal court in the palace come alive on the stage.  Tickets can be purchased on the website, www.carnegieperformingartscenter.com through the ticket link and are also available an hour before the performance at the theater.
