Curious about mountain biking and ready to give it a go? The Women on Wheels (WOW) Beginners MTB Program in Kalamunda is a 4-week introductory mountain bike program delivered by Rock n Roll MTB, designed to help women build confidence, skills and enjoyment on the trails in a supportive, friendly environment.
This program is ideal for women who are new to mountain biking or returning after time away. No prior experience is required. Across four progressive sessions, our accredited RNR MTB coaches will guide you through the foundations of mountain biking, with clear instruction, encouragement and plenty of time to practice at your own pace.
Over the 4 weeks, riders will be introduced to:
Bike setup and basic maintenance checks
Body position, balance and control
Braking and cornering fundamentals
Riding confidently on beginner-friendly trails
Trail etiquette and where to ride in Perth
Sessions are structured to progress gradually, building skills and confidence week by week.
COURSE INFORMATION:
Who: Women of all ages who are new to mountain biking or looking for a supportive re-introduction to the sport. Ages 16+
Location: Rock n Roll MTB
361 Paulls Valley Road, Paulls Valley
(located at the Calamunnda Trail Hub)
Plenty of parking available at the rear.
Dates & times:
Week 1: Saturday 11 April 8:30am - 10:30am
Week 2: Saturday 18 April 8:30am - 10:30am
Week 3: Saturday 2 May 8:30am - 10:30am
Week 4: Saturday 9 May 8:30am - 10:30am
Duration:
Each session runs for approximately 2 – 2.5 hours, including riding time and a relaxed social catch-up at the end.
Skill Level & Pace:
Beginner level. Easy rolling terrain with no high-consequence features. Sessions are run at a relaxed pace, with coaching tailored to individual comfort and ability.
What to bring:
Comfortable activewear suitable for riding
Enclosed shoes with good grip (flat-soled shoes recommended)
Water bottle
Sunscreen
A positive mindset and willingness to learn
Be prepared for any weather – we ride rain or shine!
Important Note: For this program, bikes and helmets will be provided. Please specify your height when signing up to ensure the correct frame size. You're more than welcome to bring your own bike and helmet if you'd like.
Bike & Safety Requirements
A mountain bike in safe working condition, including:
Flat handlebars
Off-road tyres with suitable knobbly tread.
Front and rear disc brakes.
Helmet (mandatory for all riders) * must not be older than 3 years old.
KALAMUNDA SOCIAL RIDE:
Wrap up the program and celebrate your progress with a relaxed and supportive social ride on Saturday 16th May at 8:30am. This optional ride is a great opportunity to put your new skills into practice on the trails, ride alongside the women you've met during the program, and enjoy the fun and connection of mountain biking in a group setting. No pressure, just good vibes, a bit of adventure, and a whole lot of encouragement!
