Drawn to stories that explore the relationship between people, animals, culture, and place, she has spent more than fifteen years documenting lives shaped by conflict, tradition, displacement, and environmental change. Her photography and writing have been published internationally by outlets including The New York Times, National Geographic, The Sunday Times, the BBC, Al Jazeera, and Geographical Magazine, among others. In 2025, she was awarded a Pulitzer Center Reporting Grant to continue her long-term reporting on the lives of women accused of witchcraft and banished from their communities in northern Ghana.Raised in rural Wales, Claire's love of horses and adventure led her from local riding stables to working as a horse wrangler on ranches in Wyoming, USA. It was there, surrounded by vast landscapes, horses, and a culture deeply connected to the land, that she first picked up a camera and discovered a passion for photography. After graduating with a degree in Politics from the University of the West of England, Claire began using photography to explore the world around her. A trip to Ghana in 2008 further shaped her path. While volunteering on a project supporting women living with HIV/AIDS, she came to understand photography's potential not just to document the world, but to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard. The experience inspired a career dedicated to visual storytelling and social issues.Over the next decade, Claire built a reputation as an international photojournalist, documenting a wide range of human rights, environmental, and cultural issues. Her early work focused on daily life for Palestinians living under Israeli military occupation in the West Bank, as well as the humanitarian challenges faced by refugees arriving on Europe's shores. She later went on to cover conflict, displacement, and environmental issues across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.Between 2016 and 2019, she was based in northern Iraq, where she documented the Battle of Mosul and its aftermath. Her reporting from the conflict and the years that followed was published worldwide and formed part of a broader body of work examining the human cost of war, displacement, and recovery. Her assignments have also taken her to Syria, Afghanistan, Jordan, Lebanon, and numerous countries across Africa and Europe. Alongside her editorial work, she has undertaken assignments for UN agencies including UNHCR, UNDP, and UNMAS, as well as international organisations such as Save the Children, War Child, and Amnesty International.Alongside conflict reporting, Claire has always been drawn to projects examining the relationships between people, animals, and the natural world. In 2019 she travelled to western Mongolia to photograph Kazakh eagle hunters and semi-nomadic herders in the Altai Mountains. What began as a single assignment evolved into a long-term documentary project spanning years of visits and deep friendships with herding and hunting families. First published by The New York Times in 2021, the project culminated in the publication of her first photo book, ALTAI: Hunters and Herders of Mongolia (Hemeria, 2026).Claire now leads small-group photography expeditions to the region, sharing the landscapes and communities that have become central to her work. Her images have been exhibited internationally and are held in private and institutional collections worldwide, including the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. In 2023, she received the Amnesty International Media Award for Outstanding Impact for a collaborative project with Sunday Times Chief Foreign Correspondent Christina Lamb on British ISIS wives detained in camps in northeast Syria. She has also been a finalist for the British Journalism Awards, the UK Picture Editors' Guild Awards, and the Amnesty International Media Awards.Today, Claire divides her time between Wales and Egypt, where she continues to pursue long-term documentary projects exploring culture, conflict, conservation, and the relationship between people and place.Although her career has taken her around the world, Claire still considers Carmarthenshire home and credits her rural Welsh upbringing with shaping the curiosity, resilience, and love of the natural world that continue to influence her photography today".This is a free event, all we ask is that you register so we can get an idea of numbers attending. We can not wait to welcome you to this incredible seminar.See you there #TeamCCC https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/e6f52c30-8765-11f1-8897-d1c887d26697-rimg-w1106-h740-dc1d1713-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events1/banners/e7512ee0-8765-11f1-9a9e-39ca0151cd66-rimg-w1110-h740-dc050403-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events5/banners/e7a6a1e0-8765-11f1-8897-d1c887d26697-rimg-w1107-h740-dc312e2c-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events5/banners/e7f8e090-8765-11f1-8897-d1c887d26697-rimg-w1107-h740-dc181615-gmir.jpg https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events7/banners/e84c09a0-8765-11f1-a8a4-631b175f3d78-rimg-w1118-h740-dc01182e-gmir.jpg Agenda?: 06:30 PM - 07:00 PMDoors?: 07:00 PM - 08:30 PMSeminar?: 08:30 PM - 09:00 PMQ&A Session + Book Signing w Claire ?: 09:00 PMEnd
