There's a lot of information out there! When you're a player, it can feel exciting to have all these components in front of you to interact with.If you're an aspiring gamemaster, however, the way you interact with that information looks a little different. What is the appropriate system to run a specific genre of game? How do I ensure that everyone knows the rules? What if I don't like a rule in a system - can I change it or do I always have to run games as-written?These can feel like big questions, and they are worth answering. Before answering them, however, it's important to get clarity on what kinds of systems are out there. Why are you a fan of a specific system? What What influence does the system have on the pacing of a session? What sort of mechnics exist in a system outside of the ones the player uses?This workshop is one in a four-part series where I'll take you through examples and playtests of various systems, then help you incorporate that into how you approach elements like story and facilitation. Then in the final workshop you'll get the chance to combine all these elements and run your first game as a gamemaster.
