Asana means "to take a comfortable seat" which means as each asana progresses in challenge so does the challenge to stay peaceful. It's easy to find calmness laying in Childs pose but can we find the same calmness whilst in a handstand or working deep into the hips?
This immersion is all about progressively practising the more challenging asanas in a way that doesn't loose 'yoga'. To remain completely connected to the breath, present and mindful whilst practising the more advanced postural aspect of yoga asana.
This immersion is suitable for those already with an established yoga practice, who want to sky rocket their understanding, practice and enjoy a deep dive into some of the practice that isn't taught all that much. You don't need to be able to do any of the poses listed below, options will be given to suit everyone and the immersion kept at a small number so everyone gets 1:1 assistance and guidance from Emma.
The day will follow with-
11,30- Hips leading to leg behind the head.
We will start the day with a mobility and deep stretch workshop where we'll work strengthening drills to stabilise and dynamic mobility to find space in the body. Before entwining deeper hip opening postures into the mix. Leading us to eka pada sirsasana leg behind the head pose.
12.45-1.45pm Inversions- headstand, handstand, forearm balance & finding flight.
A vinyasa practice to fire up, working towards getting upside down as well as working skills such as tuck jumps, floating, pressing and finding grace in vinyasa movement. You'll get to choose which inversions you want to work on and we will look at variations as well as entry in and out of the pose. For example straddle jumps to handstand/ pressing into headstand and forearm balance.
2-2.30pm Arm balances
Theory and practice for this one as Emma takes you through the skills needed to find lift up off the floor, we will work through a whole sequence of arm balances but also how to lift your bodyweight off the floor and transition between arm balances.
2.45-3.30pm Backbending, stability & flexibility.
The last part of the day will look at opposing forces of ease and strength. How to create resistance and how to relax. Working backhanding such as drop backs, scorpion backbends and backbends such as full cobra and more. Emma will finish this workshop with some stability drills and deeper holds in yoga poses.
Join us for a great day! Work hard, enjoy the journey and learn all about progressive asana.
