Topic: Emotion and Expression in Blues Dancing
This workshop will focus on musicality and expressing the emotions of Blues music. We’ll learn how to listen to what the music is “saying” and let IT dictate how we respond rather than just relying on set patterns. No partner necessary, as we'll rotate for those comfortable doing so.
Instructors: John & Shoshi Krieger-Joven. John & Shoshi are longtime dancers throughout NYC, John DJs and teaches for a variety of swing events including Frim Fram and Brooklyn Swings, and lucky for us, they're now based on Long Island! Their teaching is grounded in the blues aesthetic, physical expression of the emotions of the music, solid technique, and the joy of movement. They teach students to find their own styles, voices, and ways of moving within the fundamentals of the dance and the conversation between partners. You can check out Shoshi competing here

FORMAT: John & Shoshi will teach an intensive two-hour workshop 3:30-5:30pm as usual, but stick around afterwards for the afterparty! All are welcome!
PREREQUISITES: All Levels Welcome. This workshop is designed for those new-to-blues, new-to-dance, or those with any level of experience in partner dancing. We encourage all/any level of dancer to attend because no matter what "level" your dancing is, you can *always* brush up on basics (or venture over into the lead/follow role you don't typically dance).
Afterparty: everyone is always invited to our LISS class-after party at a TBA location just a 5 min drive from the studio - please join us for snacks, drinks, chats, and more dancing! (Address shared at the lesson.)

Location: 375 Dance Studio at 375 Westbury Avenue in Carle Place. Parking is available in the studio parking lot, and on Sundays there's typically plenty of space on the street as well. Please be kind to the neighbors and do not block their driveways.
