This will help protect sensitive plants, wildlife and habitat during the event. What is a BioBlitz?A BioBlitz is a citizen science event where people work together to find, photograph and record as many species as possible within a particular area.During the morning, participants will explore designated areas of Belmont Hills and record the wonderful, colourful, not-so-colourful and sometimes downright weird species they discover.Observations will be recorded using the iNaturalist app, helping to build our knowledge of biodiversity within the reserve. Why is Belmont Hills important?Belmont Hills Bushland Reserve forms part of an important area of remnant bushland within the Bulimba Creek catchment. Its diverse vegetation provides habitat and movement corridors for native wildlife, including species of conservation significance.Recording biodiversity through the BioBlitz will help build a better picture of the species using this special area and contribute to our understanding of its ecological values.New to iNaturalist? No experience is necessary. iNaturalist is a user-friendly app that allows you to photograph and record species you find.We kindly ask participants to create a free iNaturalist account and download the app before attending the BioBlitz. You can create an account and find instructions here:https://www.inaturalist.orgEvent detailsDate: Saturday 24 October 2026Time: 9:30 am–12:30 pmLocation: Belmont Hills Bushland Reserve, 132 Scrub Rd, Carindale QLD 4152Cost: FreeBookings: EssentialPlease wear comfortable closed-in shoes and sun-safe clothing, and bring a hat, water bottle and mobile phone with the iNaturalist app installed.Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.BioBlitz OctoberThe Belmont Hills BioBlitz is one of six events forming part of B4C's BioBlitz October. To discover the other BioBlitz October events, visit:https://www.bulimbacreek.org.au/b4c-eventsBioBlitz October is supported by a Transurban Community Grant.
