Hey everybody!
We're proud to bring you our first feature event of the year.
Emily Cotterill is a Cardiff based poet originally from Alfreton, Derbyshire. Her debut collection Significant Wow was published by Seren in 2025 and was described (positively) by the New Welsh Review as 'an existential crisis of book'. From Bovril and Monster Munch to Avril Lavigne and and Sonia from EastEnders the collection is poetry of normal lives from the early 90s to today.
We will also give you the opportunity to strut your stuff.
With regards to the open-mic, here's what you need to know:
1. You get 5 minutes to do your thing.
2. There will be a rolling sign up throughout the night. Sign up for the first section starts at 7pm once the doors open, and the show starts at 7.30pm. You must sign up in person. We cannot do remote sign ups.
3. If you miss the sign up sections, we finish off the night with our free for all known as 'The Jazz Section'. Anybody can grab the mic from the crowd if they feel inspired to do so.
4. Hate speech and disruptive heckling will not be tolerated.
5. There will be a suggested donation policy of £3 on the night. The money raised will go towards the cost of booking more fabulous feature acts for future events. We believe that all people who work in the arts should be paid for their work. We also believe that our audience deserves the finest calibre of poetry/spoken word in return for their loyalty and generosity.
So, come on down, grab a drink, enjoy some food, show your support, and help the local scene grow in all its glory.
Big Love from Big Words!
