Beginners Tango Class

Our beginners’ lessons focus on the fundamentals of tango (embrace, connection, and walking), teaching you technique and some simple step patterns to develop the essentials you need to get you started on the dance floor.

Improvers Tango Class

Our improvers lessons are designed for dancers who already have an understanding of tango fundamentals and are ready to take their dancing further. While continuing to refine technique, connection and musicality, we will explore more complex movements, combinations and concepts to help you become a more confident, comfortable and creative social dancer.

Class Schedule

Every Wednesday

Beginners Class - 7:30pm - 8:30pm - £40 for a 6-week block, £9 drop-in

Improvers Class - 8:15pm - 9:30pm - £40 for a 6-week block, £10 drop-in

Practica - 9:30pm - 10:30pm - FREE for class attendees and £5 practica only

Both classes - £65 for a 6-week block, £16 drop-in for both classes


Whether you're taking your very first tango steps or looking to develop your dancing skills, our friendly Wednesday evening classes at Ardour Academy are the perfect place to learn, dance and have fun.

Argentine Tango is an improvised social dance born in the streets and cafés of the Rio de la Plata that combines connection, musicality, and creativity. Rather than memorising routines like other partner dances, there are no fixed sequences to learn – every dance is created in the moment through listening, communication, and trust between two dancers. From playful rhythms to moments of stillness, tango offers a rewarding journey that is just as much about connection as it is about dancing.

Our weekly Argentine tango classes are designed to help you master the essentials of this special dance, giving you the steps, confidence, and techniques to feel comfortable dancing in a social setting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills as an improver, our classes offer a fun and welcoming environment where you can learn and develop.

We have a combined experience of over 20 years of dancing tango and have been teaching together for nearly 5 years. We love dancing tango socially in milongas both in the UK and Europe, and regularly take lessons with professional teachers from across the world to make sure we are constantly growing and learning ourselves so we can make sure that we are sharing new knowledge with our pupils.

Where: Ardour Academy, Cardiff

Clothing: Please wear comfortable clothing that gives you the ability to move freely. Layers are sensible as well, as you may get hot dancing.

Shoes: Soft shoes that are not too grippy allowing you to easily pivot or turn on one foot. For those wanting to focus on following high heels would be useful but not necessary.
