Traditional Appalachian Gardening: In this workshop, we will learn about traditional methods used in constructing a garden in Appalachia as well as what would have been grown in folks' gardens. From culinary and medicinal herbs to vegetables and fruits, we will learn what peoples of Appalachia cultivated to feed and keep their family healthy throughout the year. We will also cover some specific cultivation techniques and requirements for certain food/medicine plants.

Meaghan Moore is a forever student of the natural world and has always been fascinated by the history and traditions of the places she has lived. Meaghan is a trained herbalist and together with her husband, owns and operates Blooming Mountains Botanical Sanctuary in Hampshire County, WV. She has been foraging and gardening for most of her life and feels more at home with a crowd of plants, aka the forest, than in a crowd of people. Meaghan loves sharing her knowledge on all things herbalism, gardening, foraging, and mothering with all who will listen. Most of her days are spent on her homestead living close to the natural world, caring for thousands of plants, taking care of goats, chickens, horses, dogs, cats and any other critters in need of love, and raising two slightly feral children.
