- **Event Description**: Welcome to the Cape Town Trio of Peaks, a weekend of pure mountainous fun!

The Trio consists of 3 seperate hikes on consecutive days; 1) Devils Peak: Woodstock Cave, 2) Table Mountain: Platteklip Gorge and 3) Chapman's Peak Summit.

We'll commence at 8am daily when the SANPARKS offices opens and you are welcome to enter for the entire weekend, or choose any of the hikes as a single event.

THURSDAY (3,5 hours: Devil's Peak 8km Out&back, 485m elevation):
Woodstock Cave is one of the largest
caves on Table Mountain. It's formed by a
long horizontal crack (50 metres wide by
fifteen metres deep and three or four
metres high at the entrance) halfway up
Devil's Peak that can clearly be seen from
Woodstock and Salt River. The walk is a
short series of zigzags along a path which
is rocky and uneven in sections.

FRIDAY (6 hours Table Mountain 7km Out&back, 736m elevation):
Platteklip Gorge is the oldest and most
direct hiking route up Table Mountain.
Maclear's Beacon is 1,086 metres (3,563
ft) above sea level, 19 metres (62 ft)
higher than the upper cable car station
The structure consists of man made rock
packed in a triangle form, being 5 metres
(16 ft) high.

Hike starts at 8am.
Day 2 is a long day out in the mountains. You have to be fully self supported with enough macronutrients for 6 strenuous hours in the mountains. You will need at least 2l water (or more) and something with substance, for lunch.

SATURDAY (4 hours Chapman's Peak 5km Out&back, 435m elevation):
This is one of the most rewarding hikes in
the Cape Peninsula with beautiful fynbos
and magnificent 360° views to
experience the Peninsula in all its glory!
Look out for the proteas and ericas and
indigenous trees. You may even spot a
black eagle or a fish eagle
Chapmans Peak is the mountain peak
around which the famous scenic road
Chapman's Peak Drive is built. It was
named after a certain John Chapman, a
British sailor sent ashore to check for
fresh water in what is now Hout Bay.

Suitable lightweight hydration-/backpack, sunscreen, hat, proper trail shoes, snacks, enough water. Lightweight windproof jacket/fleece, beanie and gloves depending the weather. A waterproof jacket might be a handy kit item. Always dress in layers.
