Amy Ayanda is a singer, songwriter, and visual artist based in Cape Town. Her music has evolved over the years through collaborations with notable producers, resulting in a sound that moves fluidly between electronic elements and organic instrumentation. Rooted in honesty, her work reflects her lived experiences, often exploring themes of womanhood, love, loss, and transformation.
From an early start in music and visual arts, Amy has developed a practice where storytelling and melody become a form of sanctuary. Her earlier releases introduced her as a compelling voice in South Africa’s independent music scene, while her live performances are known for their tenderness and clarity, often foregrounded by stripped back arrangements and lyrical intimacy.
More recently, Amy has begun writing and completing her debut full-length album, a body of work that draws from personal reflection and creative maturity. She is preparing to perform a fully stripped-down set of these new songs, offering audiences a direct and vulnerable encounter with her latest creations.
Across her practice, Amy balances collaboration with autonomy, continually shaping a space where her music can grow in its own time and remain connected to her evolving story.
Maya Grey is a solo folk artist based in Cape Town whose music blends dreamy melodies with imaginative storytelling. Since 2023, Maya has been slowly emerging into the city's music scene, putting on performances that invite listeners into a world that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Maya Grey's music draws inspiration from fantastical fairytales and the natural world, resulting in themes of mysticism, nostalgia, and natural magic that share sonic stems with the likes of Ichiko Aoba, Jessica Pratt, and Linda Perhacs. The architecture of her live sound consists simply of acoustic guitar and vocal layers, leaning more on melody lines than any complex arrangements.
Music is a form of escape for the artist, but also a lens for sense-making in both external and internal worlds. It is a process of drawing meaningful and personal narratives into musical landscapes that support deeper emotional exploration. It is a representation of her devotion to the experience of living and finding her way through the world.
