- **Event Description**: This scenic Mississippi River paddle begins at Trail of Tears State Park boat ramp and follows the river downstream to Cape Girardeau. Paddlers will enjoy towering bluffs, expansive river views, and abundant wildlife along this historic stretch of the Mississippi. The trip concludes at Cape Girardeau's riverfront during Riverfest, where participants can enjoy food, live entertainment, and a fireworks display over the Mississippi River that evening. Approximately 14 miles in length, this paddle combines adventure, history, and a great community celebration.

This trip is to show how much the Mississippi has to offer for local paddlers. While the river can be treacherous, we will show you how to paddle down safely and confidently. 

Timeline:
- Meet at the Trail of Tears boat launch at 9am.
- Required Safety meeting from 9am-9:30am. We will safety check everyone’s boats, and go over general river safety. 
- Final prep and boat launch around 10am
- Find a good sandbar to stretch and eat lunch. 
- Finish the paddle at the Cape Girardeau Riverfront. 
- Expect to be on the river for 4-5 Hours. 

Things to bring: 
- Snacks/Lunch 
- Extra water
- Sunscreen 
- Boat
- Paddle
- Lifejacket

Boat and gear requirements:
- We recommend boats that are 11 foot or longer.
-Boats should have some kind of inflation, either a bulkhead, floatation bags, or foam. 
- Type 3 PDF's are REQUIRED to be worn the entire time on the river.
