# Event Details - **Event Name**: Patsy Pond Nature Day Hike and Overnight Backpacking Trip - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 28 Feb, 2026 at 10:00 am – Sun, 01 Mar, 2026 at 10:00 am - **Event Description**: Join the New Bern Outdoor Adventure Club (NBOAC) for our Annual Patsy's Pond Trail Hike and Overnight Backpacking on Saturday February 28th!! This event is open to the public! Attention all hikers, walkers, wanderers, sojourners, traipsers, ramblers, saunterers, and those prone to perambulation! Join us for a two part event at the Patsy Pond Nature Trail on Saturday February 28th. Part One: Day Hike at Patsy Pond Nature Trail Saturday morning February 28th! We ask all participants to meet at the trailhead gravel parking lot by 09:45am. We plan to step off to start hiking at 10:00 AM and should return back to the parking lot no later than 12:00 PM. NBOAC will provide a lead hiker and a sweeper for this trip. The trail is a easy hike with well maintained loops with some small sections of loose sandy soil, so good supportive footwear is highly recommended. The planned total hiking distance is approximately 2.5 to 3 miles and should take about 2 to 2.5 hours to complete. A few small breaks will be taken to visit the ponds and other areas of interest. Note: There are no indoor restroom facilities available at the Patsy Pond trailhead and the NC Coastal Federal Office across the road is closed on the weekends. Part Two: Afternoon Hike/Overnight Backpacking Trip - Saturday afternoon February 28th - Departure Sunday morning March 1st. The second part of the Patsy Pond event will start after the completion of the first hike and a short break before stepping off into the woods with our backpacking gear. Those that are interested in the second part will meet back at the trailhead gravel parking lot. Estimated step off time should be between 1:30 and 2:00 PM and will be determined by the NBOAC lead hiker leader. NBOAC will provide a lead hiker and a sweeper for this trip. Note: There are no indoor restroom facilities available at the Patsy Pond trailhead and the NC Coastal Federal Office accross the road is closed on the weekends. For both events each hiker will be responsible for their own equipment including food and water and will need to be self-sufficient. Hikers will be responsible for their own transportation to the Patsy Pond Nature Trail Head parking lot. RSVP for day hikers is not required - feel free to bring a friend and a smile! RSVP for overnighters is highly recommended.
