Cape Town has some fantastic venues that host New Year events every year. That includes New Year celebrations in five-star hotels in Cape Town, events in various party plots and restaurants, and multiple concerts and fireworks at public places in Cape Town.
Here are some locations which are hosting New Year events this year.
South Africa's a great place to ring in 2019 with vibrant cities, beautiful beaches and expansive savannahs. One place that's definitely a yes when it comes to spending New Year's eve is Cape Town.
The tip of the continent, as it's otherwise called has so many different things going for it. With parties, family events and so many more activities, the city comes alive this time of the year. The V&A Waterfront is one of the best places to spend a memorable new year. Inclusive to everybody, this event is family-friendly and a great way to feel like you're part of a large community. V&A brings to you characters to keep the kids occupied, pop-up performances by some of the city's most talented musicians and excellent, delicious food.
There's also a special V&A kids crew who have been tasked with keeping the little ones engaged throughout. They will be handing out location assist bracelets to all so that kids safety takes priority.
The theme this year is Mother Earth, so the party's all about peace during the festivities. There's going to be nice, carved out Mother Earth floats all over and performances from Our Mother Earth singers, Tree Opera singers and other bands and groups such as the Gab 4 Acapella Group and Nomadic Orchestra. To cap it off, the night ends with a spectacular fireworks display. Get there by around 6 because that's when the party begins at the Flagpole courtyard, right to midnight.
If a nice, cozy dinner is what you're looking for, then there are many options for that as well. Hotel Alphen Boutique is hosting a fine-dining experience at Blanko to begin the year. The delicious menu includes seabass, aged ribeye and tasty asparagus risotto. Dessert includes marmalade cheesecake.
Benguela Cove at Somerset West has delicious platters and canapes planned with DJs and cash bars included as well. HQ is hosting an NYE bash with the theme being "Heaven NYE". Dress in all-white and wine and dine past midnight!
For a cool inner city celebration, Alcazar at the foothills of the Table Mountain features two stages with 12 hours of music and art. There's also a 3D printed building facade of a fortress and fire dancers light up the sky with deep techno music keeping people up. There's also a wild indoor electric ballroom with performance art of the avant garde type to go with booming tunes. Dress up for the "Arabian Nights" theme and remember, no under the 20s allowed!
For more family-friendly events, Cape Point Vineyards features a disco night with DJ Rene the Frenchman. There are food stalls and some wine on offer as well on the large lawns in the area. Cafe Roux has a 3-course meal event where you can share a quiet dinner with family and friends under a tent. DJ Frank will be there to raise the energy levels as the night progresses, so keep yourself ready!
