MUSICAL WARFARE is Oddmall’s very own BATTLE OF THE BANDS!
Each MUSICAL WARFARE battle happens at an Oddmall show. The following rules and policies apply:
Bands and individuals of all ages and experience levels are invited to apply.
All genres of music are welcome.
Our selection committee will choose bands to perform during the battle based upon the duration of the event, the number of applicants, and the overall impression made by the band during the application process.
Each band selected to battle will play a 15-20 minute set as scheduled by the Official MUSICAL WARFARE Band Selection Committee (OMWBSC). Even if a band is not selected to perform at a particular MUSICAL WARFARE event they are encouraged to reapply in the future.*
Victors will be chosen by our panel of judges according to the following criteria:
JAZZ: How good do they sound?
SNAZZ: How skillful and polished is the performance?
RAZZ: How original are they? What new things do they bring to the stage? If they are playing covers what juice do they drip to make them their own?**
ZAZZ: How does the audience react to the performance? What are they doing to bring fun and excitement to the event?
Prizes vary by event and will be listed as soon as we know what they are.
*Just because you didn’t get chosen doesn’t mean you suck. We might just have a full schedule or too many entrants performing the same kind of music. Or maybe you do suck, I don’t know. This is all speculative at the moment. I don’t even know who’s reading this right now.
**What juice do they drip? My apologies for the bad metaphors. I failed figurative language class in kindergarten. I should stop trying to sound hipper than I am. Unless you think it’s cool…
