Bound Together: A Weekend Creative Retreat

In this weekend retreat and workshop, attendees will create a handmade, one-of-a-kind book with 26 small collages (on 13 double-sided pages), bound together with a slipknot binding, between vintage book covers. We will focus on creating an open, non-judgmental, creative atmosphere together.

Saturday (10am-4:30pm):

On Saturday, we will work on our mixed-media collages, using paints, papers, stencils, stamps, and found materials. Participants will be encouraged to explore downtown Canton for inspiration. Some guidance will be provided, but our focus will be on playful and spontaneous creation.

Sunday (10:30am-4pm):

On Sunday, we will focus on decorating our book covers and binding yesterday’s collages into a book! Using waxed linen thread, we will learn a simple slipknot binding technique. This technique results in a sturdy book that will lie flat when opened.
