After completing a Fine Art degree, he became part of the UK electronic music scene, releasing early material on Guerilla Record and later on ALMO Records, while collaborating with artists such as Coldcut, Seal, David McAlmont, and Heartless Crew. With poet Salena Godden he formed SaltPeter, releasing the album Hunger Is the Best Sauce on Fred Mann's 'Fred' label. Coyte's practice has since broadened into sound art and installation, with immersive works including Figures in a Floating Landscape at the Heath Robinson Museum, Breathing Colour at Lancaster Cathedral, and NOW at Hornsey Town Hall. His 2026 album Journal drew strong critical attention, earning comparisons to Craven Faults from Electronic Sound and “What a fantastic voyage” Prog Magazine, Outsideleft, and “a triumphant expression” Record Collector.
