You’ll learn proper stance, balance, and simple skills to help you feel comfortable getting started.Whether you’re brand new to skiing or looking to build confidence on snow, this is a relaxed and social way to try something new, meet other young adults, and enjoy winter in the Bow Valley.No experience needed & rentals (skate skis, boots, poles) are included.What is skate skiing? Skate skiing is like ice skating, using a V-shaped motion on groomed trails for speed, requiring stiffer, shorter skis, rigid boots, and longer poles, while classic skiing resembles a running stride, using parallel skis with a kick zone for grip, typically easier for beginners on varied terrain with longer, more flexible skis and shorter poles.Location/settingMeet your instructor and other participants inside the Trail Sports store at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Once everyone has their rentals sorted, the instructor will take participants out to the Cross Country Stadium area behind the Nordic Centre Day Lodge. It will be dark outside, but there are floodlights to see.What to bringDress warmly and in layers!
