Friction returns on Saturday 29 November with another massive day party stacked with some of Canberra’s all-time favourite breakbeat artists featuring the Stanton Warriors, A.Skillz, and Kid Kenobi ft. MC Sureshock.
Fresh off their sold-out show earlier this year, the Stanton Warriors are back to take over the Hopscotch courtyard once again. For over two decades, their signature bass-heavy, genre-bending sound has set the global standard for breakbeat, with legendary sets at Glastonbury, Fabric, Burning Man and beyond. Expect nothing less than a masterclass in raw energy, underground spirit, and proper party vibes.
Joining them is one of the most beloved DJs in the Friction family, A.Skillz - whose explosive blend of funk, hip hop, and breakbeat has made him a global favourite. From his iconic Tricka Technology release with Krafty Kuts to jaw-dropping turntable sets around the world, A.Skillz is more than a DJ - he’s a showman, and a true favourite of Canberra’s breakbeat faithful.
They’ll be joined by Aussie breakbeat pioneer Kid Kenobi, who redefined the national scene in the early 2000s and is now reuniting on stage with his long-time vocal partner MC Sureshock. Together, they helped shape a generation of clubbers with their Ministry of Sound Clubbers’ Guide to Breaks series and legendary live sets across the country and beyond.
This is your chance to celebrate the start of summer in classic Friction style - with big names, good mates, and the best backyard dancefloor in town.
Helping set the tone for the day is an all-female local lineup, with Canberra favourites Eighty K and Suga kicking off the daytime vibes.
