In this two-day workshop, curious high school students take their first startup journey: they will design, build, present, and publish their own digital app. No coding or tech experience needed.

Students will learn 'vibe coding', a modern way of creating software by working alongside AI to turn ideas into functional, well-designed apps in a surprisingly short time.

Along the way, students will brainstorm, discuss, and develop their ideas, learn how to pitch their final projects in a showcase event with guidance from our public speaking instructors.

- What should a student bring with them?
Students should bring a laptop, charger, notepad, water bottle, nut-free snack, and lunch.

- What kind of apps can students make?
Students will choose their own project after guided brainstorming. Possible projects include habit trackers, study planners, homework schedulers, quizzes, learning apps, mini-games, recipe generators, budgeting tools, music generators, and more. Final apps will be accessible through a web browser, not published directly to the Apple App Store or Google Play during the workshop.

- Do we need to prepare for the workshop?
After registering, families will receive a few easy steps to set up an account on the coding platform. Students can also start thinking about project ideas.

- Should students have prior experience in coding, tech, or AI?
No coding experience is required. Students should have general computer skills and be able to type at an average speed.

- How many kids are in the class?
The program is expected to have around 7 to 15 students.

- Can students younger or older than 12–17 attend?
Younger students should have decent computer knowledge and moderate typing ability. Older students are welcome, but the workshop is mainly aimed at high school students or recent graduates.

- Can you provide a laptop?
Yes, but families should contact iV Learning in advance. Additional fees apply.

- Do you cater for special needs?
iV Learning aims to be inclusive. Families should contact the team to discuss needs and possible adjustments.

- Who are the teachers that run the camp?
The camp is designed and run by Dr Ivan Vinogradov, a Canberra scientist and educator. Other instructors include experienced tutors and science students or graduates. Staff have Working with Children and Vulnerable People registrations, and a first aid certified instructor is present.

- Can I book just one day?
The activities are connected, so the full two-day experience is recommended. For partial bookings, families should contact iV Learning.
